In the age of digital noise, we find ourselves surrounded by non-stop notifications, algorithmic feeds, and endless content, to the point where we have gone deaf or blind.
Everything screams for our attention and likes. Nothing stands out. In a nutshell, in this world, clarity has become the ultimate luxury.
However, for someone, this digital cacophony became the catalyst for creating something new. This was not the result of a textbook business plan, but of a very personal sense that the final stage of communication should be more than just informing; it should elicit comprehension and demand action.
She became committed to 'communicating with a cause' and founded Kusum Innovation.
Pooja Jain now helps businesses deliver their messages in a clear, memorable, and relevant way through creative storytelling, video production, and brand communication solutions.
This is the story of an entrepreneur who works without bounds.
We sat down with Pooja Jain, Founder of Kusum Innovations, to get a handle on the brand's path and its goal for the future.
Please tell us who Pooja Jain is.
Well, the journey has changed me into someone who lives and breathes at the confluence of relationships, strategy, and growth, constantly motivated by a desire to provide real value to every client I deal with.
At Kusum Innovations, I am responsible for identifying new firms, making important relationships, and effortlessly integrating them into our ecosystem. I collaborate with clients to understand their goals and propose solutions that are consistent with their business objectives.
My career began in the video production services industry, where I established a solid basis for client-focused growth and service-based solutions. Over time, our company expanded into a new vertical, Corporate Gifting, which has increased my exposure to innovative, client-centric techniques in a range of industries.
Give us a quick overview of Kusum Innovations. What was the problem to which you dedicated your life?
When communication is unclear or uninspiring, even the most valuable information loses its meaning and fails to connect with the audience. We're trying to change that with Kusum Innovations.
Kusum Innovation focuses on reducing complicated messages and communicating them in a creative, entertaining, and compelling manner.
The personal threads were tied here because I feel that communication should serve a purpose and be delivered in this manner only.
Did you ever see yourself as an entrepreneur growing up? Was there a woman in your life: a mother, a teacher, a neighbour, who shaped the way you think about ambition?
To be honest, this was never planned.
During my school years, I imagined myself growing into a manager at a reputable corporation. However, life has taken a different path throughout the years, and I feel that opportunities align your path to where you are supposed to be.
My mother has had the most significant influence on my life. She has been a guiding light, encouraging me to believe in my instincts and follow my own path, regardless of what others may think.
One thing my mother always reminded me of was that people will always have opinions, whether you are doing well or making mistakes, so it is critical to remain loyal to yourself. That perspective has influenced how I approach life and work now.
What is one aspect of your personality that surprises people the most?
People are often shocked by how cheerful, composed, and motivated I am despite life's ups and downs.
I believe that every obstacle serves a purpose and teaches you something worthwhile.
People frequently ask me where my energy comes from, and the answer is simple: my enthusiasm for what I do keeps me going, even on the darkest days.
What is a business move you made that appeared wrong to everyone around you but turned out to be perfectly right?
People questioned my decision to enter marketing and business networking. I had to overcome the stereotype that the field was not suitable for women.
But I trusted my strengths, communication, relationship-building, and connecting with people. Over time, that decision turned out to be one of the best choices I made because I genuinely enjoy what I do and believe in my path.
What is the most difficult challenge that women face when scaling their businesses in India today?
One of the most difficult problems women face while developing businesses in India is overcoming societal prejudices and being regarded seriously in leadership and decision-making positions. Even today, many female entrepreneurs must work harder to demonstrate their competence.
Another important problem is balancing professional development with personal duties while also developing strong networks and finding appropriate opportunities. However, things are improving, and more women are breaking down barriers and confidently launching profitable businesses.
How do you strike a balance between career objectives and family responsibilities?
I believe that finding balance requires being clear about your priorities and making time for the people who are important to you. While I don't have large family duties right now, I believe it's crucial to stay in touch with family despite a busy professional life.
For me, balancing does not always imply spending long hours together; even simple things like having a meaningful conversation or spending quality time every day may help sustain solid relationships while pursuing professional goals.
Share one piece of advice for prospective female entrepreneurs.
My advice to aspiring women entrepreneurs would be to start early, trust your intuition, and believe in your capabilities. Stay confident in your vision, product, or service, even if others doubt you in the beginning.
Entrepreneurship comes with challenges, but self-belief and consistency make all the difference. When you truly believe in what you are building and work towards it with dedication, opportunities and the right support eventually align in your favor.
Most importantly, it’s only one life, so follow your heart and pursue what truly excites you. Take risks, believe in yourself, and never live with the regret of not trying.
What topics interest you most for women-focused events (e.g., funding, marketing, networking)?
I’m most interested in networking and marketing. I believe strong connections and effective communication are key to growing any business, and women-focused events around these topics create the most value for entrepreneurs.
What direction will your brand take in the next three years, and what version of yourself are you currently developing?
In the next three years, I hope to strengthen our brand and establish ourselves as a trusted partner to India's premier organisations in video creation and corporate gifting solutions. Our mission is to onboard the next 50 great Indian firms and provide long-term value to them through innovative and impactful services.
On a personal level, I'm striving to become a stronger and more resilient version of myself, one who grows with each challenge and opportunity.
